To celebrate Valentine's Day last year, our friends at SASH & BUSTLE Bridal Boutique in TO posted some of their favourite love stories from their friends and were kind enough to ask us to contribute one. Here is the article I wrote for them ago featuring my very favourite love story of all time: our own! I decided to share it here today in the hopes it will warm your Valentine's spirits this week. Hooray for LOVE!!!
THE BRENT & SARAH STORY My favourite love story is still the story of how I met Sarah back in January of 2010. Here is my Ted-Mosby-esque account of how it happened:
I had just started up a new band and was auditioning bass players. Reading through all of the craigslist musicians-wanted ads, I came across a glamorous young blonde bass player who was a recent humber-grad with a hot cherry music-man bass and a very cool Myspace Page.
So I sent her a message. She didn't reply. A week or so went by and while I had other bassists to audition who all seemed awesome and interested, I decided to suck up my pride and write her a second email.
I have no idea what I wrote exactly, but it was evidently much better than the first email as she agreed to come out and try out some songs together with me and the rest of the band.
The moment I first met Sarah still stands out to me, although I was too dumb to realize at the time that it was love at first sight. I truly had earnest intentions to simply work together and create music. Anyway, the rehearsal space was just off of Richmond and Bathurst on a snowy night at the end of January and I can still remember her walking up to the door with her bass over her shoulder in a soft case covered with buttons, wearing a poofy white winter coat and flowing blonde hair lit up by the bright winter night sky above.
She joined the band. We played our first show together in Kensington Market in April and began playing shows throughout southern Ontario all that spring and summer. But it wasn't until the very end of the summer that we would finally fall in love over a sandy dune looking over a beach on Lake Huron.
We traveled back there with our family and friends 5 years later to get married at a nearby resort. And we have returned every summer since then to celebrate, only now we bring along our 2 incredible little girls to enjoy it alongside us.
Love often has a way of finding you when you least suspect it. All you have to do is be smart enough to see it when it comes ❤️ Here are our favourite 25 songs from Romantic Comedy comedies in no particular order 🥂
