Cocktail Kickstarters

January 8, 2020

Starting your cocktail reception on the right note is key!

Yes, you want your wedding to be elegant, beautiful, brilliant and magical, but now that your ceremony is finished, wouldn't you also like it to be fun too?

This is not the time for your musicians to simply blend into the background. The purpose of entertainment is to break the ice and lower everyone's inhibitions to invite conversation and merriment. You want genuine laughter and animated movement (as opposed to polite reactions to awkward politically-charged conversation.)

Your wedding day brings together your family and friends and while this is a beautiful thing, don't forget how little the likely have in common. Give them something to talk about with inspired musical selections that everyone can agree upon.

We have found a few ways to kick-start any cocktail reception on the right note, helping your party build a positive energy that will ensure everyone has a fun and memorable evening (even your older, crankier guests.)

The songs have been broken down by decade with an effort to pick one for every year for somewhat equal representation. All of these songs have been tested at hundreds of weddings and events and been found to be universally agreeable (even the quirkier selections on the list.) Feel free to add a few of your own as with the right set-up, we can get away with pretty much anything so long as it is played in a cocktail-jazzy kind of style.
