The 90s is one of the greatest decades of music ever. I was a kid growing up on Much Music videos through this decade, spending endless hours day after day watching their many awesome programs from Countdown to The Wedge to RapCity to RSVP to MuchLoud to Electric Circus. I remember every single Much Music VJ from that decade from Erica Ehm to Steve Anthony to Monika Deol to Bill Wylychka to Bradford Howe and of course everyone's beloved George Strombo, I bought every single DANCEMIX MUCH DANCE and BIG SHINY TUNES album the second they came out, loving pretty much every song I came across regardless of genre or style. It was all magic to me. It was honestly the best musical education that a kid could ask for. I think this love of Much Music is what helped lead to my supreme love of music, giving me a genuine love and appreciation of every genre from 90s House to Alt-Rock to Gangsta Rap to Grunge to Reggae to Shiny Pop Songs and One-Hit-Wonder favourites that all helped to make that decade so incredible. This week is a love letter to my favourite decade. Reminisce with me as we recount our favourite 90s songs of all time, organized into genres just like your local HMV might have done.
